        Project

My name is Jacques Elbert, I grew up in French Canada
Got tired of getting cold and wet, while looking for the sun!
Traded in my snow boots and parka and headed south
Hudson Bay to Washington D.C., USA, a two thousand mile jaunt
Was far enough from that "white stuff"... surprise!
I stayed anyway

One year short of getting my Engineering degree, funds ran out
Job hunting in the USA turned out to be a paradox!
Traded the years in communications and NORAD defense system experiences
For the television and film production media

Filming until then was just a hobby
To turn professional over night was a challenge
The work experience in TV Film Production and eventually
Freelancing for the national and international TV Networks
Were the most enjoyable and successful years of my professional life
But!

Had to trade it all in for my health

Sometimes the price one may pay in high pressure jobs
Packed my cameras and followed the sun!
In Miami not only was the sun there
So was a Trimaran the type I dreamed of for years
Traded my new car plus a few $ and sailed to the Bahamas

Five years later it was time to trade in the cruising life for the city life
Left for the Canadian Pacific Coast, traded the sun for the "wet stuff"
Ten years later, it was time to follow the sun again, to head south
Packed my cameras and a TV Pilot project into my newly built sailing ketch
With the family sailed south to the Sea of Cortes, to Mexico
Once again followed the sun!

Sailed and cruised and dived in the Sea of Cortes.
Enjoyed the sun, except for one hurricane.
Where have the years gone?
It was time to sail onto new horizons.
To finally use the vessel for what I builded it for.

A new course and a new purpose.
Along the way around the world, sailing to the Med.,
To film, Océanis II's odyssey, a docudrama of men, ship and sea.
As we sail to the "Hub of the NEW Civilization" via the Pacific.

The prospective Crew, have gone before the tentative departure.
Many have enquired, many have discovered their limitations.
A few, the more capable ones,
for a while have tagged along.
Then they too, have gone opting for lesser challenging sails.

Voyaging the 7 seas the ultimate challenge.
To find a capable crew a daunting quest.
Yet, kindred souls are out there to find.
Able to share, the adventures of a life time.
A sailing dream to make come true.

To sail alone and not to share?
Still trust finding the right crew.
Together we'll
sail in no one elses wake.
One way or another.
Alone, if that must be so.
I'll live my dream and follow the sun!
